The Best Greasy Spoons in San Francisco

lately_2012-05-06_181
There are few breakfasts I enjoy more than the ones that I get from a greasy spoon. I love having the time in the morning to sit and read, while someone else makes me a big fat breakfast. I start my day with a cup of coffee, and time to think about everything I care to accomplish in the day. That being said, it's a luxury, and sometimes it can be affordable. These are a few of my favorite finds in San Francisco. I will likely update this as I find more restaurants that serve a solid breakfast. (more...)

Matt is preparing a sushi feast today, and as such, we went shopping. These are some of the that I found on our morning expedition just blocks from our house.

Smoking, pork.

Matt has done it yet again. You wouldn't believe the amount of work that goes into smoking pork for eight hours. Gradually adjusting temperature. Prep the night before, massaging the meat, injecting it with strange juices. Waiting and waiting and waiting, and finally pulling it all apart. He's a hero.

This thing you see before you contains four meats (I think it was something like; turkey, pastrami, corned beef, and roast beef), some magical sauce, and not much else. It left me feeling almost too satisfied midday on a work day. I'd recommend this to anyone that loves a quality meat sandwich, and if you're in the SOMA they even deliver the sandwiches until 2 PM. It took 8 hours to smoke 16 Lbs. of pork butt. He also made BBQ sauce, and baked buns. You can see all of the pictures at the Grafton Brew Flikr.
